New Student Welcome and Cultural Community Receptions
At the start of each academic year, MSS hosts a large New Student Welcome event that include smaller break out receptions for each of the cultural communities we support. This event introduces students to University resources, faculty, administrators, student groups, and initiatives to help in their transition to UVA.
New Student Retreat: Immerse!
This new initiative will bring together new students who identify as multicultural to a one-day retreat at an off-Grounds location. The New Student Retreat will provide an opportunity for new students to meet one another, dialogue about shared experiences, learn about key resources and programs, and engage with key student leaders and staff.
The LGBTQ Lavender Graduation Ceremony commemorates graduating LGTBQIA+/ally students. This year, 2020 Lavender Graduation will be held online on Thursday, May 14. Registration for the virtual event is now closed, but graduates can still reserve their lavender graduation cords by filling out this form. Please contact Alex Winkowski (they/them/theirs), Program Coordinator - LGBTQ Student Services, (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions.
This year's Multicultural Graduation celebration will be held virutally through our website. The Multicultural Graduation Website will launch on Friday, May 15, and will honor graduating undergraduates who identify as APIDA - Asian/Pacific Islander/Desi American, Hispanic/Latinx, Middle Eastern/North African, and Native/Indigenous. Be sure to check it out and help us recognize and celebrate this vibrant group of graduates!
